New! The goal in Manitoba is to have all existing family child care providers who qualify, take the Family Child Care Training by April 1, 2007. Red River College is providing a number of opportunities in the coming months to complete the course.

Fourteen students have enrolled in the Family Child Care Training Program currently running through Red River College Distance Education from January 11 to February 22, 2006. The course will be offered next through Family and Child Care Resources on Tuesday evenings from February 28 to May 30, 2006. A maximum of fifteen students will be recruited under the instruction of Jo-Anne Palanuk.

The course will also be offered through Continuing Education on Saturday mornings from April 1 to June 17, 2006.

Red River College is currently using the second level of the Family Child Care Training Program as a main curriculum, supplemented by an addition that meets Manitoba’s current regulations.

The 40-hour course for licensed family child care providers has been offered at Red River College’s distance education and continuing education departments since Fall 2004.
