Reaching
Out to Unregulated Caregivers:
A Planning Guide
By Andrew Taylor
This
planning guide is designed to provide helpful ideas
for people interested in reaching out to
unregulated caregivers. It draws on the findings
of a recent national research project. Our
hope is that this short guide will underscore the
reasons why reaching out to unregulated caregivers
matters. We also hope it will help you to
develop a realistic sense of the resources required
to
do outreach, and provide you with examples
of the wide variety of strategies that have been
used in Canada to reach out to unregulated
caregivers. The core message of this guide is that
successful
outreach requires a fundamental respect for
the unregulated caregiver and a well-developed
understanding
of her reality. Click

Quality Through Trust: Case Studies of Outreach to
Unregulated Family Child Care Providers Across Canada
By Andrew Taylor, Lee Dunster and Jocelyne Tougas
This
report is part of an ongoing national research project
on training in family child care. Its purpose
is to tell the stories of organizations across Canada
that have found innovative ways to connect with unregulated
family child care providers.
The report summarizes eight case studies conducted
with organizations that are attempting to make contact
with unregulated family child care providers and offer
them support. It includes short summaries of the work
of organizations from across Canada, and identifies
key themes and insights about what these examples have
in common, as well as how they differ.
This
research paper is available in Research Connections
Canada: Supporting Children and Families (Vol.
9), a publication of the Canadian Child Care Federation.
